Twitter Hackings are Hazardous Affair in Terms of Online Branding
It’s about late weekend that the Burger King’s twitter account was unpredictably hacked. The official logo of Burger King was changed to McDonalds’ logo. Later on, some rogue announcements began to emerge from this account.
It turns out that Burger King is not alone as the account that was hacked in this wild wide web. Other prominent twitter accounts, such as NBC News, USA Today, Donald J. Trump, the Westboro Baptist Church, and even the Anonymous were also victims of twitter hacking.
Then it raised a question about the ease of getting logged in to one’s twitter account, while both big commercial company and personal account of twitter only need username and password to log in.
As we know that twitter, as one of the biggest social media in the internet, has a big influence to the other social media, Ian Schafer, the founder and chief executive of Deep Focus, wrote that it is now the time for both twitter and facebook to use their influence to shape a higher social media security standards.
Twitter has played an important role of internet advertising. Lots of big branded companies have been using its service to widen their business. With the malicious threat from internet hacker, it seems that twitter has to boost its step in providing better security since twitter hacking is a hazardous affair in the era of internet marketing.
